laura is truly wonderful to work with
“I had a Creative Direction Consultation with Laura on our rental and soon-to-be purchased home that left me extremely excited for this home’s potential. Laura so clearly understood our vision for our family home and how to bring our personalities and requirements into each space. Her expertise helped enormously to shape our vision and to rethink the use of space. How she sees a space is transformative! Laura gave such practical and valuable suggestions for moving forward. Laura is down-to-earth and has a great depth of knowledge and is truly wonderful to work with.”
— Nicky, Private Client, Surrey
Laura loves the design process, from working with her clients at the outset of the project to create a vision for their future home, through to collaborating with a talented team of professionals to bring the vision to reality. Laura prides herself in spending significant time at the beginning of the project to truly get to know her clients, from their daily routines, travel experiences, aesthetic preferences and beyond. Clients bring their own stories, traditions and ways of living that shape the design.
One of the advantages of working with Laura is that she brings together exceptional trusted project teams to bring the design to fruition. Each project team varies, comprising a range of disciplines, including surveyors, architects, engineers, artisans, upholsterers, contractors and builders, and specialist trades such as electricians, plumbers, carpenters, joiners, roofers, and the list goes on.
Each person within the team brings a unique perspective, specialist skills and their own personality shaped by their life experience. These diverse collaborations create new shared ideas, open new possibilities, such as new materials or techniques, and unexpected ways of solving problems. Having a highly skilled and reliable project team to deliver the design is incredibly important, taking the heavy lifting from the clients and giving them peace of mind throughout the project, right through to completion.
Laura Charlick has lived and worked across Canada, the United States, Hong Kong, and the UK. A lifelong curiosity about culture and craft, paired with a love of travel, continually shapes her design perspective. From the vibrant hues of Moroccan spice markets to the sandy tones of the Botswana landscape; from the lush greens of Borneo’s tropical rainforests to the crystalline blues of New Zealand’s glacial lakes and the dramatic contrasts of Rio de Janeiro’s mountains and beaches, each experience offers a fresh lens through which to view form, texture, and colour. These global influences subtly weave through Laura’s work, enriching it with depth and a quiet sense of storytelling.
What Inspires Laura as an Interior Designer?
Inspiration, for Laura, is both everywhere and intentional. She believes in observing the world slowly, allowing light, shadow, and texture to reveal themselves in everyday moments. The weathered surface of a well-loved object, the way morning light filters through linen curtains, or the muted palette of a winter landscape can all spark an idea that evolves into the mood or materiality of a space.
Originally from Canada, Laura draws an enduring connection to the natural world and the rhythm of the seasons. The gentle transition from one to the next, the renewal of spring, the stillness of winter, the earthy warmth of autumn, continues to inform her creative process and appreciation for organic change.
For Laura, design is a conversation between intuition and observation. It is about finding beauty in the understated and layering inspiration from nature, culture, and experience to create interiors that feel grounded, enduring, and deeply personal. Each project reflects a thoughtful balance, an evolution shaped by the world around her and the people who inhabit her spaces.
