The final design captured exactly what I wanted

“From start to end, it was a pleasure to work with Laura on the redesign of a disused junk room into a sleek and stylish home office. Laura took the time to really understand and get to the heart of how I would use the room, and how I wanted it to reflect my personality and desired aesthetic. The final design captured exactly what I wanted, with detailed layouts and a thoughtful approach to curating everything from furniture to accessories, covering a range of options to meet my needs. Laura was open and honest about budgets throughout the project, she worked flexibly around my schedule, and she was always punctual in delivering promised solutions. I would love to work with Laura again. ”

What Is Interior Design?

Interior design is about creating homes that are as beautiful as they are practical. Ensuring rooms work well for their intended purpose, whether it's a family kitchen which is the heart of the home, a cosy snug, or a quiet and productive home office. Spaces that feel truly comfortable, support wellbeing, and make daily life easier and happier. At its heart, interior design is about improving the way people live, shaping homes that nurture, uplift, and inspire.

Every property has its own history, character and potential, and part of Laura’s role as an interior designer is to interpret this. She considers the architecture, proportions, natural light, and flow, as well as the quirks that make each house unique. Good interior design should feel as though it belongs to the property, enhancing its strengths and resolving its challenges, while making sure each space works effortlessly for its intended function.

Interior design also goes far beyond creating a beautiful concept. It’s about reading between the lines of what a client is really asking for, being practical as well as creative, and managing budgets with care. It calls for a detailed knowledge of materials and how they perform, an encyclopaedic awareness of suppliers and makers, and the ability to collaborate seamlessly with everyone from builders and artisans to antique dealers and specialist craftspeople. Organisational skills and the ability to build positive and productive relationships are just as important as creativity.

As someone who specialises in family homes, Laura believes strongly in designing spaces that will grow with her clients. A renovation completed today should still feel relevant, beautiful, and functional in ten years. This matters for many reasons: budget, practicality, and sustainability. She believes in the philosophy of ‘buy once, buy well’, investing in quality pieces that last. A child who is six when a project begins may already be eight by the time it’s complete, and once the project is completed, the home should evolve naturally with them. Ultimately, Laura creates homes that people feel proud of, places that reflect who they are and where they feel most themselves.

Who is Interior Design For?

Interior design is for anyone who wants their home to feel considered, not just styled. It’s for those who see their surroundings as an extension of their story, who want spaces that feel lived-in, loved, and quietly intentional. Good design brings a sense of ease and belonging, weaving together comfort, character, and function in a way that simply feels right. It’s not about trends or perfection but about creating a home that reflects who you are, how you live, and what matters most to you.

If you’re based in Surrey and want to discover how interior design can transform your home, Laura is perfectly placed to guide you.

Laura works with a wide range of clients, from busy professionals to young families, most commonly in Surrey, South West London, Sussex, and Hampshire. Many of her clients have recently purchased a new home and are looking to renovate and personalise it, creating a space that truly reflects their lifestyle thus becoming their forever home.

Experienced Surrey Based Designer

One of Laura’s favourite current projects is for a young South African couple with two young daughters who recently moved out of London to create their forever home in Surrey. Their house sits within a secluded wooded estate, the perfect backdrop for putting down roots and building a life centred on family, nature, and connection.

From the start, her clients have been drawn to timeless design, quality craftsmanship, and sustainable solutions, values that have shaped every decision along the way. Together with her clients, Laura has developed a master plan for a renovation that will unfold over several years. Laura created the architectural brief, introduced the architect, and guided the creative direction to ensure the home feels both beautiful and practical, with a strong sense of identity.

What makes this project particularly special is the collaboration. The couple are wonderful to work with, open, curious, and excited by the creative process. It is important to Laura that her clients can enjoy the interior design process, making it fun and exciting, which is especially important when there are a plethora of decisions to be made. The design blends antique and bespoke pieces, with playful whimsical touches, such as the work of a decorative artist, bringing layers of individuality. Over half of the pieces that Laura has sourced for this project are one-of-a-kind finds, making the project completely unique. The result will be a deeply personal Surrey home, not only timeless and functional, but also filled with character, warmth, and joy for the family as they grow.

Celebrated Interior Design for Surrey

Surrey has always felt like home for Laura. It’s where her family first settled when they moved from Canada, and after many years in London and a stint in Hong Kong, she felt the pull to return, to be closer to family and to put down roots for her own newly formed family.

Surrey is a constant source of inspiration. Its woodlands, gardens, and rolling hills influence how Laura thinks about colour, texture, and light.  What makes designing here especially rewarding is the richness and variety of the architecture. From period cottages to grand country homes, every project feels different and rooted in place. Surrey clients often share Laura’s appreciation for timeless design, sustainability, and quality craftsmanship, values that make the work feel especially meaningful.

Surrey, like many of the home counties, really does offer the best of both worlds, countryside calm with London’s energy just a short train ride away.
